How can I fight a judgement from a payday lender, that I already paid over $700.00 back on a $400.00 loan?

The lender refuses to drop judgement and is now seeking over $1600.00, on a $400.00 loan, they are sharks! They refuse to accept a settlement or lower amount than $1510.00.. Any advice?
The difficulty is that these places are legal. You knowingly signed the contract. They now have a judgement based on a valid contract...I am not sure there is much that can be done. Contact a local debt attorney to see if you have anything that can counter them...
Even though the fees are brutal, they are probably allowed in the contract you signed. For that reason, there really isn't a legal appeal to fairness that is going to work. Aside from bankruptcy, there is no way to force a creditor to take less. The only other advice I can give it to keep pushing for settlement. Maybe there is an amount that, if presented to them in hand, would be too tempting to refuse. Just be sure to get a written satisfaction of judgment if you do settle for a lesser amount.

The prior responses are spot on, even though that is not what you wanted to hear, I know. Unfortunately, you could also easily spend far more than you owe the lender on attorney fees if you try to fight this. Best of luck!
