Can someone write a book mentioning my dead parents names and slandering their name?

The book was published in 2013 and it is not entirely about them but my father is mentioned 4 times, he passed in 2003 and my mother is mentioned twice, she passed in 2013. The author is from Trinidad.

defamation laws vary from state to state but the general rule is that one can defame a deceased person without being subject to suit or any other penalty. hope this helps.

Defamation is a tort that applies to living persons (at least that is the general rule)

Any one can write anything, it just depends what was said; if it was truthfully not.
