I have NEVER been in trouble, this is my first case, I gave away clothes at a store I worked at for low prices, my amount came up to $365. I got a warrant out for my arrest, never got a court date or anything what should I do? What's going to happen when I turn myself in?

You should stop posting admissions on a public website and hire an attorney.

Hire a lawyer, follow their advice. You MAY be able to keep this off of your record. Check through the attorneys at for one in the area who is highly rated and practices Criminal Defense. Good luck.

When you turn yourself in you will be given a bond, either before the arraignment or at the arraignment. If you pay the bond, you will be out of jail while your case is working its way through the system. Turning yourself in with a lawyer is a really good idea, but if you don't have money to hire an attorney, you can turn yourself in and ask for a court appointed attorney. Things generally go better in an embezzlement case if you are prepared to make full restitution right away. Assuming you can afford to do so, the first thing you should do is hire an attorney and then follow advise. With an outstanding warrant, you should assume that if you get stopped in a traffic stop you will be taken into custody.

Usually if it's a first offense the case can be managed by a qualified criminal defense lawyer. Important aspect of embezzlement cases requires compensation, also known as legal restitution, to the victim. Thank you for using .

Contact an attorney before you turn yourself in so your lawyer can arrange a time to do a walk-in arraignment. It saves a lot of time, hassle, and booking fees. The arraigning judge or magistrate will read the charge against you, advise you of your rights and the maximum penalties under the law. You will also receive a bond and when you bring a lawyer to your arraignment, it is all but a guarantee that you will receive a better bond because it shows the judge you are taking this matter seriously and therefore you are likely to appear for all your court dates. Your lawyer can thoroughly review the case to determine your options and likely outcomes. There may even be a way to keep it off your record. Often restitution is very important in these types of cases. You don't want a crime of dishonesty on your record as that can hamper your future in many ways. Look for a lawyer that primarily practices criminal defense. One that has experience in theses types of charges all the better and one that is familiar with your court is a bonus because they will likely know what the judges and prosecutors are likely to do and not do for cases like this. Most lawyers offer free consultations so take advantage. and Google are great places to begin your search. What you don't want is a general practitioner or someone who merely dabbles in criminal defense. Good luck.
