The filing fee is $335, unless you qualify for a waiver of this fee due to your income. The attorney fee will vary based upon the circumstances, but most offer a free consultation so that you can learn about your rights. Find one on and set up a consultation today or use the link below to find one.

To someone who doesn't know any better, cost can be the most important issue, but a cheap cost can be a complete waste of money for someone who doesn't need bankruptcy or who will lose valuable property as a result of carelessness or inexperience. Then there is the issue of using up the right to the value of a bankruptcy discharge when you really need to save it for future use. More info at the links below. Hope this perspective helps!

You should consult an experienced and responsive bankruptcy attorney near you. Many attorneys on offer free consultations and you can ask that question then. A good attorney does not have a cookie cutter approach; the fee should be determined by the particular factual circumstances, what that attorney will be doing for you and the local practice. I would strongly recommend Not seeking an attorney based upon price. The focus should be on the experience and attentiveness of that attorney. There are some attorneys who will not offer you the attentiveness that others will. Best of luck, Barbie D. Lieber

Most attorneys in this area offer free consultations. Your first step should be to schedule a consultation. As an aside, there's more to deciding which attorney to hire than the amount of the fee. While I understand that money is probably tight, focusing too much on price could cause you to overlook other important considerations. The consultation is an excellent opportunity to gauge whether you are comfortable with your attorney, whether you feel that the attorney appears competent, whether the attorney addresses all of your concerns, etc... Good luck with your case!
