Does the following statement in a teacher's contract mean I could possibly not get paid?

"The payment of such salary is conditioned upon the availability of adequate education funds provided for salaries." I have never noticed this statement before in a contract so it makes me a little nervous!

Not really, but it does cause some concern. As an employee you are entitled to minimum wages, which is $7.25 an hour. As a salaried teacher you would be exempt from being owed overtime wages; however, if they do not pay your salary then they could lose that exemption and owe you overtime wages if you work over 40 hours a week. You may want to talk to the school to see what they mean by that particular statement. I take it to mean that they may have to end your contract or lower your salary sometime throughout the school year if the school district does not have adequate funds.
