Can I use my EAD card for local flight?

I have a pending asylum case. I had my interview before two years and haven't heard the decision on my case so far. Currently, I'm a student in F1 visa but my passport is expired. However, I received my renewed EAD card today. So, my question is can I use my renewed EAD as ID to fly from texas to California. I don't have other id yet, I was waiting for my renewed EAD to apply for drivers id or state id. But, for emergency case, I have to fly within the two weeks. So, I was wondering if I can use my EAD card for local flight. I also have valid I-20, since I'm still a student. Thank you so much for the help!

You should contact the airline that has your flight reservation and ask them directly as to the accepted documents to confirm your identity. Possibly the EAD may be an acceptable identification document for security at the airport and for the airline. I suggest that you obtain a state issued identification card or your driver's license at your earliest convenience.

I agree, and will add that you should carry your passport with you even if expired as additional documentation if required. The EAD is a federal identification document and should be sufficient in itself.
