Is there a "reputable" credit repair company? If so, I am not aware of it. There are only three credit reporting companies and all of them pretty much have the same information. If inaccurate information is being reported on you credit report you should certainly dispute it. If the information is accurate it will be put back on your credit report once it is verified. I don't think there are any quick fixes to your credit score. It is a long process to improve it. I represent lots of people in bankruptcy. Once they file, if they work at restoring their credit, it takes about 2 years for their score to be above 700. And there are lots of home loans available for people two years out of bankruptcy.
I know that there is a lot more there than what you question was. If your credit is not that bad, work on improving it. If it is really bad, maybe you need a fresh start. Good luck.
In my opinion, there's no such thing as a "reputable credit repair company."
If you don't want to do it yourself, speak with an attorney who handles Fair Credit Reporting Act cases. He or she can help you do what you can.
Your best bet would be to meet with a local bankruptcy attorney who handles Fair Credit Reporting Act cases as well. I've met with a lot of people who were frustrated by negative information on their report, but who are missing the fact that their debt situation is getting out of control. Take your credit report(s) to a good consumer lawyer and see what makes the most sense based on your debt situation and the reporting.

In my opinion there ARE reputable and successful credit repair professionals out there. But they are rare. I suggest you do your research and get a referral from someone you trust who has utilized their services. I also strongly recommend that if you decide to hire a credit repair professional, hire one located in your home State. Do NOT use a national company to address your credit issues. You need particularized services and you need to meet with someone face to face to review your credit report. There are lawyers who do this and also who specialize in FCRA law (many here on ). A lawyer is your best option. Good luck!
