Do we have a legal case in small claims court?

My girlfriend worked at a salon and recently quit due to some odd issues. Her employer would have her clocked out for meetings that "aren't required" but you'd be terminated if you didn't attend. Wouldn't get paid for "training" which was the same as everyone working was doing. After terminating her position her employer asked for a manual that she paid for and refused to give her money back, he also has held her last paycheck. Is all of this okay for an employer to do?

Often local employment law protects employees from this type of behavior. Employers feel that the job market is bad enough that they can treat employees this way. It may be best to contact a local employment law attorney like those that can be found in the directory.
