it is not possible to predict what CPS will do. To give an educated guess would require much more information than you are providing. You should hire an experienced CPS defense attorney to advise u_s to your best course of conduct.

Rather that flee, the better plan may be to find a way to be a father to your kids and get CPS out of your life.

This is a very tough question, and one that has no right answer. CPS is CPS is CPS. Every case is handled differently. Every CPS social worker that I have dealt with seem to have their own opinions and agenda. You can be harassed by a zealot, or the agent could be reasonable. What concerns me about your case is that you are thinking of fleeing your family because of alleged "mental abuse". Not physical abuse mind you, but "mental abuse". That is a horse of a different animal. You should seriously consider retaining Counsel before doing anything stupid. Then you should consider finding a good therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist. I would want to find out what is wrong, if anything, before jumping to conclusions. I would have you take parenting classes. i would have the entire family engage in family therapy. If you did all of the above, you would save your family, possibly your marriage, and at worse, be asked to enter into a "Parenting Safety Plan" with CPS. That's far better than running away, which solves nothing and you lose everything. What you have not said though, disturbs me the most. WHY? Why is there a problem? What lead to the problems at home that got CPS involved in the first place. Again, absent substance abuse (which is also treatable), it sounds like someone, or everyone, needs therapy to get to the root of the problem so it can be resolved. In a similar case to yours that I had, as it turned out it was not the Father who was the abuser, but a sibling. The Father was wrongly blamed. We eventually got the entire mess straightened out without the children being taken from the home, no parent was removed, and everyone is happy now, but they are in therapy (courtesy of the State because there was no money). Be a man... Work to save your marriage and your family. You will be happy that you did.
