behind I found a hard copy of an email from his attorney to him with the statement "in reviewing the bank statements is there anything listed that you may not want your wife to know about?" I have not hired an attorney yet, but can correspondence like this from his attorney be construed as it's OK to hide information? Can he get in trouble for this type of behaving?

You have a right to receive full disclosure from your spouse. That is called "discovery." If you can determine that your spouse is concealing or failing to disclose information, then there are ways for the Court to deal with him. An attorney cannot participate in fraudulent activity - subject to disciplinary action. The attorney's statement is 'suspect' and may put you on alert, but without more would not be considered anything but a request that he is getting full disclosure.
