Last month rent south carolina

I paid my last month rent 3 years ago when I sign the lease. I will move out next month. landlord increased the monthly rent by $100 a year ago. However, landlord never ask for increase the last month rent until now, the last month. Is it true that south carolina state law requires: when landlord decided to increase monthly rent, he had to collect extra $100 for my paid last month rent long time ago . Is it too late now for him to ask for extra rent at the top of last month rent?

As a practical matter, you might just tell him that your understanding is that he already already collected the last month's rent three years ago. He is not going to sue you for $100.00.
