I would like to know if grandparents rights exist in Texas?

Child Custody 3 views 3 answers
My ex husband relinquished his rights to our 3 children and my husband has adopted them. The adoption was finalized on December 4, 2014. My ex mother in law has been pestering me to see the kids. (and sending text messages after I have asked her to stop) The kids do not want to see her and I have told her as much. She keeps telling me that she has rights, and will pursue an attorney. I have been told that there are rights for grandparents, but I have also been told there are not. Are there grandparent rights? And if so can I have a brief explanation of what they are? Thank you!

She isn't your child's grandmother since the termination of your ex's parental rights.

Grandparents' rights are very limited in Texas and throughout the U.S. because of a Supreme Court decision. Because of the adoption the former mother in law no longer has any relationship with your children and is not a grandparent within the law to seek any rights.

I hate to pile on but the two good lawers analyses is correct. They are no longer legal grandparents. Even if they were under your facts they would not have any rights. Good luck
