Can child support be stopped?

Ex husband owes 5 months in child support. It was going through the state enforcement and then suddenly stopped. Why state did not file motion for contempt? Do I have to file? Thank you

One common reason child support abruptly stops is because the obligor (i.e. your ex) lost his job or changed employers. Since your case was going through state enforcement, you may want to contact them and see if they can start to take measures right away. They will usually do so, but it takes some time.

You can file the motion yourself, you can hire an attorney to do it, or you can wait for the DOR to get around to it.

You may have to contact the Department of Revenue and ask for enforcement of your order. The other, choice, as my colleagues have stated, is to file a Motion for Contempt on you own. You can find a form for the Motion at flcourts.org.
