If I am represented by a lawyer in a criminal case could another lawyer represent me in an oj petition with the supreme court?

Say that in my criminal case were numerous abuse of discretions and no probable cause. My lawyer agrees with this analysis and that it would be a good idea to file a petition for writ of prohibition with the state supreme court. Say that my lawyer is however too busy to represent me in the Original Jurisdiction case. Could a different lawyer represent me in the OJ petition even though that lawyer does not represent me in the criminal case?

Sure. If you can find a lawyer willing to handle the matter you can hire as many as you like.

Are you talking about filing a CAR 21 Petition while your underlying case is still pending? You can probably find an appellate attorney to handle that aspect of your situation. But it would be best to speak with your current attorney first, in order to coordinate. The new lawyer would probably also need to speak to your current lawyer as well, before they could do anything for you.
