Can a foreigner on F-1 visa (OPT) serve on a jury?

I'm an F-1 visa holder and citizen of a European country. I graduated from my master's in California last year and am now employed full-time on OPT. I've just received Summons for Jury Service in mail. I see on the invitation form that I can excuse myself as "Not qualified / I am not a citizen of the United States", but I'm curious if I'd still be allowed to serve on the jury if I showed up. To be more precise, my question is - would something like that be illegal on my part or not? (I have absolutely no intention of breaking any laws - that's why I'm asking before I fill in the "Not qualified" oval on the form and mail it back.) Thanks in advance.

absolutely not. it might be regarded as claiming that you are a US citizen - and that would be an end to everything you may dream of here. You can sit in the public area for any court case - and... if you want it to get real, you can go up to 100 Montgomery St in San Francisco and watch what happens in immigration court.

Stay out. You are not qualified as you are not a U.S. citizen. Only USC(s) serve on the jury panel. You can be deported for an unintentional USC claim.

You are not eligible and should not try to serve as a juror. It may sound interesting, but is absolutely illegal on your part if you pretend to be eligible (a citizen).
