US Visas 2 views 3 answers
I am trying to bring my mother in law to US for few months and have submitted the DS-160 form (B2 - Visitor visa ). I am a US citizen and wife has a green card. My wife is not working ( full time student ) , Can she sponsor her mother or do i need to do it since she is not working. Also, what kinds of documents do i need to submit?

You will send her an invitation. You may also sponsor her stay. You may start here - http://www.travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/visit/visitor.html

Your mother-in-law must apply for her own visitor visa, on her own merits, based on her ties to her home abroad and show that she meets the requirements. Sponsorship is most applicable when someone is immigrating, or moving permanently, to the United States. The documents that she will need to submit are those which prove her identity and intent to return to her home country. More information can be found on the consulate's website where she will be applying.
