Do I need a real estate attorney

3 views 3 answers
I recently was evicted with a three day notice from the police department. my house was in the foreclosure process that I was renting from. I was told by the police officer after he had given my friends who were helping me move the notice of the eviction that everything at the house was going to be put aside and I could come and pick it up. Because I did not get the paperwork from the people thats we're helping me move I did not read that it was not allowed to have a garage sale. the day of my sale a police officer escorted us off the property and had to leave everything there. I was given a set time 1 hour one day and then another hour the next day by the realtor Now she is saying that I told her I was done getting my things wshe also lied to the police officers stating she never talked

Yes, talk to a real estate attorney in your area or an attorney that can file for return of your personal property.

You need any attorney - not necessarily a real estate attorney. You are entitled to your personal property.

An attorney experienced in Landlord/Tenant matters will be most able to help you with this. You may also be able to take advantage of some free or low cost legal assistance from a legal aid organization, and they frequently work with tenants. You might start with a call to the county bar association's referral line. Good luck.
