and all original copies back to me by March 20th with a quite large firm in Orlando. petition drafted, sent for signing and returned. Nothing has been filed, keep getting what I feel are excuses. Now we find out there are huge complaints and an F BBB rating. This is terrifying. What do I do?
Unfortunately, there are places out there that don't follow the Golden Rule. If your attorneys won't file your case, then you need to find a new attorney. You need confidence in your attorney to give you peace of mind that your case will be handled properly. If you aren't satisfied and you feel you've done all you can, then find a new attorney.

Get to a bankruptcy attorney immediately. Did you use a law firm or a petition preparer (non-attorney)? You may need to contact the US trustee regarding the company that did not file your case.

I agree with Mr. Roberts, you need to consult a bankruptcy attorney quickly. You can find highly rated bankruptcy attorneys using the "Find a Lawyer" tab on .

If you returned papers on March 20, but they didn't arrive (or get reviewed) until April 1 - guess what. You needed to provide March income records and your paperwork needs to be updated. Now it is May and the paperwork needs to show April paperwork as well. And it will soon be June, and guess what! May paperwork will also be needed. Returning documents by mail leads to all kinds of problems. Is your credit counseling certificate still valid. Not all law firms are good at scolding clients for missing records, which is necessary. But guess what, I scold my clients and they call me a name that rhymes with witch. Sometimes the lawyer can't win! See if someone at the firm will tell you what the real problem is with your case and be prepared to address it. My biggest complaints come from people who show too much money left in their budget to be eligible for chapter 7 bankruptcy under the "good faith test" (see link below) or who refuse to supply updated documents because "why do I have to give you more?" Hope this perspective helps!
