Ok I now know I will have to look over an admin. order offer from florida child support. My question is this: I already pay $358.00/mo. for a 17 yr old daughter, I make $1165.00/mo. at my current job plus I receive $925.00/mo. Soc. Sec. death benefits from my late wife making $2090.00 minus $358.00 so $1732.00 is what I have left over to raise as a single father a 12 year old son. I do not know her income so I would go worst case scenario which is the applied flor. state min. wage is applied. How much more will I have to spend here I cannot afford med/dental even for myself and my son as I am begging as it is for work hours. I am afraid I will not be able to pay more for a now soon to be 15 yr. old son I never knew I had until genetic testing was done and how much arrears? Please need help

Okay, well you definitely have a lot going on. I am including a link below to the FL Supreme Court child support calculator. Child support is not only based on income, but you may be entitled to a credit depending on timesharing. You should file a petition for modification of child support and additionally request a deviation downward, especially with the son you are solely caring for. You are also not in arrears for the 15 year old, but may owe retroactive support up to two years. Has paternity been established? Are you sure he is your son? I hate to just refer you to an attorney, but there are a lot of questions that need to be answered before you can get some good detailed advice. Many attorneys offer free initial consultations and can give you specific advice based on all the specific facts of your case. Good luck to you.

Perhaps your best option is to speak to a FL family law attorney regarding your specific situation and determine if a reduction in child support is a doable option. Better than getting generic answers online.

From your question, I assume you are active in the boy's life, which would include spending significant amounts of overnights? If this is the case, you need to have the court hear the matter, rather than let it proceed administratively. This is complicated, and there are time limits!!!! Additionally, your current child support for your daughter will be taken into account when figuring child support. If nothing else, you need to scheduled a consultation with a family attorney (many offer free consultations!), with experience in administrative matters. Good luck.
