Met a guy whom i thought was my own fairy tale prince charming. got married too soon after as he didn't want me to go back home to my country when my visit visa expires. Came here to take a nursing license exam and visit friends and family. was supposed to take the exam 15 days before i go back home met him and he proposed i accepted. first week in the marriage he kicked me out due to jealousy reasons. He cheated on me while i was gone didnt find out til after i went back to him a week later. 3 weeks of non stop arguments. I refuse any type of sexual activity after i found out about the cheating. today i left because he he tried to strangle me slapped me and spit on my face. i fought back. i do not know what to do. Please help. I am at a friend's place right now. this happened in seattle

You need to consult an Attorney, you might be eligible for relief under VAWA Form I-360 battered spouse or U visa for domestic violence (need police report and certification from Police) to file under u visa category. You need to prove violence and mistreatment.

First, you should seek counseling regarding safety issues from a domestic violence agency. Regarding the immigration side of this, you should get the opinion of a qualified attorney or non-profit immigration service provider experienced in immigration domestic violence cases. Depending on a number of factors, you may be eligible to file a VAWA self-petition, or an application for a U visa.

You have several options as a battered spouse. In order to qualify for a self-petition, you must prove domestic violence and a bona fide marriage, among other requirements. I highly suggest a consultation with an immigration attorney.
