Having a valid H1 Visa stamp, can I move in to the US with my Amendment / Transfer petition in pending status?

I am outside US, I have a valid H1 Visa stamp with company X, now I have job with another firm Y, I have my new firm Y filed Transfer petition, the new firm Y can't wait till the petition is approved, can I travel to US to work with the new firm having Transfer petition in pending status. You may enter the US with a valid passport, current H1B visa, and I-797 Receipt Notice. of your new employer. I would make sure the employer filed a change of employer petition that permits you to work under portability and not new employment which does not.
