I have a 6 year old niece and my sister messed up her rights with her. My mom witch is a really fit parent wants to take over the rights of the little girl, we spend a lot of time with her at visits and she loves it, she broke down balling when she found out she couldn't see her mom anymore, now they want to take rights away from the whole family on our visitations, is this for the better or for the good for her?
If CPS filed an abuse/neglect petition to to have the parental rights terminated, the mother will receive a court appointed attorney. Talk to that attorney. If this is a different situation, you will need to retain a private attorney. Your message does not give any details why the rights are taken away, who filed the petition, etc.
Hi, I urge you to talk to an attorney at once to find out exactly what can be done because this is a situation where it sounds like there is termination of parental rights going on. This is a complicated area and I urge you to contact a local attorney at once. Good luck to you.

It sounds as if there is a CPS action going on, and possible termination of parental rights. Is the child currently with a foster parent? Has the grandmother or any other family member discussed seeking of approval for the placement of the child with them? This is a very complicated matter, you need to discuss it with an attorney as soon as possible. Realize that the longer you wait, the more difficult this becomes.

I also believe it is important to at least talk to an attorney as soon as possible so that your family is informed of their rights. Many attorneys, such as myself, offer free initial consultations. I believe this is particularly important in your case because there are additional facts that may affect the future direction of the case. For example, it may be possible for your mother to petition to be the legal guardian while the termination proceeding is taking place.
