What does " TRACK AMENDED TO COMPLEX" mean?

No one seems to be able to tell me the exact meaning of this, yet they use this phrase here in Southwest Florida and in regards to my daughters case. Thank you all for your time. God Bless...

I would direct this question to her attorney. However, a felony case will be "labeled" for lack of a better word, expedited, standard, or complex depending on the type of case it is. Typically, lower third degree felonies ( possession, theft, DWLSR) will get an expedited track. Charges like drug sales, agg assault, agg batt, etc. May get a standard track. Charges like white collar crimes, sex crimes, murder, multiple co-defendant cases, etc. May get a complex track. Basically the tracks set target times to try to get each case to a resolution, I.e. Trial. Expedited is usually 120 days, standard is usually 270 days, and complex is usually 365 days.

Cases are characterized by their complexity by the judges in LEE County. The term complex is typically used with more serious felony cases typically at least second degree and above. Best thing to do is simply contact the attorney representing your daughter to find out the status of the case. Best of luck.

It means the case is more complicated than it first appeared for some reason. Under our differentiated case management system here in the 20th Judicial Circuit, the judge sets time goals for certain things to be accomplished. The case was previously set for shorter time goals and then changed (probably at a case management conference) to the complex track which has the longest time schedule in felony cases. Her lawyer should be able to explain why or what caused the track change.
