The police took pictures of the bruise I have. My friend left the scene and he has charges against him from myself and the police and I want to drop them all

the charges are not yours to drop. that is a decision that will rest solely with the state attorney. you can send an affidavit to the state attorney requesting that they drop the charges and listing the reasons you have to support your request. many times the state will honor such a request, but not always.

It is the State Attorney's decision on whether to continue the case. Most of the evidence rests with you. If you are an unwilling witness, they may decide to drop the case. You should let them know that you do not want the case to move forward.

Mr. Olney is correct, the State Attorney's Office makes the decision whether to drop or pursue these charges. However, as a victim, you have a constitutional right under the Florida Constitution to have input into the case against your friend. You can file an affidavit requesting no prosecution which the state should at least consider. Please let us know if these answers where helpful by hitting the helpful button. Good luck.

Is this person just a friend or were you in a relationship with him? Domestic violence can only happen by familial or dating relationship. You can tell the police that you don't want to pursue the charges, but if they have independent evidence, ie. bruises, 911 call, witnesses, etc.
