Received a notification from the Los Angeles Superior Court for a citation I am in no way familiar with, nor did I receive one.

Received a letter in the mail from the LA Superior Court. Has a citation number, and issue date of 5/28/2015. I checked the violation code which is 5200AX 29, apparently it is for No Front License Plate. 1) I was never in Los Angeles on that day, and 2) I just received my plates in the mail. How can a court send me a notice to show proof of correction along with the bail amount WHEN I DONT HAVE A CITATION TO BEGIN WITH?!?! Is this for real? Seems like the new scheme to me, officers and courts demanding citizens to pay for citations that they have no idea of and at the same time, can do nothing about. This is pathetic and I am livid that such a notification came in the mail. What are my options? Can I write a letter and send it with a copy of the notification to the court?
I think it's for real. If you just got your plates in the mail, it sounds like you didn't have a front plate. Better get on down to the traffic court and see what's up. You're livid that a notification came in the mail? That's how notifications are delivered. A letter won't do any good, you need to go the traffic court with some evidence that the listed vehicle actually had a front plate. Please note, this is far from the end of the world...Relax.
All you need to do is go down to the court and find out what's going on. Explain that you didn't receive a citation and have no idea what's going on. Maybe there is some sort of mistake. But don't be angry. Its not that big of a deal. A letter will do you no good.
