Correction Institute medical negligence

Medical Malpractice 2 views 3 answers
I was in incarceration for 18 months and towards the end of my incarceration 2 and half month before my release I requested for my molar tooth roots to be removed . They removed the right side jaw roots for one of my teeth and told me they would schedule the other side jaw extraction when my right side healed up . The right side healed up in less than 7 days and I informed them but never got another appointment for the left side molar roots extraction . I have no money or insurance and need that root removed . The last couple of weeks in my incarceration my lower left jaw was swollen ( I had an infection ) and they gave me some antibiotics and ibuprofen . Need your help and advice Thank you

Thus far, as described, I do not think that you have been the victim of medical malpractice. You need to continue to request medical attention, and hopefully your persistence will pay off. If things worsen, and if you believe that medical negligence has resulted in a significant or permanent injury, then it would be time for you to discuss this with a local medical malpractice attorney. Good luck.

I have handled numerous cases involving the negligent medical care of inmates in North Carolina's prisons, and, although you have a perfectly valid complaint, I do not believe it rises to the level of actionable negligence. Many inmates suffer severe and permanent injury due to the inadequate medical services offered to that population, but you are fortunate in that you have not sustained a permanent injury. You might want to contact the dental school at UNC Chapel Hill. They offer dental services at reduced rates.
