i was recently fired from my job due to me missing two days of work. i had a panic attack on one of those days and called to set up an appointment with my doctor which was on a monday. i returned on friday but kept feeling uneasy. when i went to see my doctor he refilled my anxiety medication and wrote a doctors note asking my employer to excuse my absenses but to my surprise i was instead told i was being let go. now my anxiety in no way interferes with my job description or makes me work less than others. it this legal?

There may be laws which apply to your situation, such as the Fair Employment and Housing Act and the California Family Rights Act, in California, and their federal law equivalents. Much will depend on the size of the company, how long you have been with the company, how serious your illness was, how much information was provided the company's managers or human resource personnel and how they perceived your illness. You should consult with an employment law attorney, as soon as possible for a legal opinion as to whether your rights have been violated and, if so, what you can do about it. Be well.
