Can I travel to Italy and Greece if I have a misdemeanor Dui conviction?

I have a florida dui conviction(first offense). I've completed everything asked of me from the courts and I'm no longer on probation. I also have my license back. I know I can leave the U.S. to travel but I was wondering if immigration officials from Italy/Greece, part of the Schengen states, can deny entry into their country because of a Dui conviction?

When it comes to travelling to ANY foreign country, it is up to that country to decide if they will allow you in and can refuse for just about any reason. However, as an avid traveller myself I don't think it's very likely that any country would refuse entry based on a DUI conviction. If you want to be sure, contact the Italian and Greek consulates and ask them.

You should consult a qualified immigration lawyer before attempting to enter a foreign country. Entering a country when the country's law prohibit you from entering could lead to a further criminal charge.

Mr. Epifano is correct..that type of charge would only be a problem in the muslim world, and I have never seen anyone denied entrance for a dui. With that said, I have had a client(decorated veteran) denied access to Canada because he had a domstic violence charge which was dropped. The RCMP told them they think all of those charges are dropped when they should not be. Travel agents are also a wealth of information as well as bloggers on the internet. Good luck
