Workmen comp

Business 3 views 4 answers
I am on workmen comp and they have been great. But now I am assigned a nurse who comes in my room when seen by my doctor. Last time she was asking me to do a 4 hour day. But in the same note she was referring to another lady whom I work with and she is doing. Does the nurse have the right to be in the room and can she refer me to another.

Nurse case managers often involve themselves in your case. If you are uncomfortable, you can ask them not to be there. Your best bet would be to consult a local work comp attorney, who can get all the facts from you and best advise you how to proceed. Is there any reason why, you haven't gotten an attorney already? You can find an attorney through this site, by clicking the "Find a Lawyer" tab at the top of this page, and then searching for a workers compensation attorney in your city and state. Best of luck.

Absolutely not. We never allow nurse case managers to accompany clients to their doctor appointments. It is clear that the insurance company is working to ensure that you are released to return to work. If she wishes to speak to the doctor, she can make her own appointment, but she must notify you, and if you have an attorney (and I strongly recommend one), and everyone must be available to attend or it doesn't take place. Remember that the nurse case manager works for the insurance company, whose job it is to get you back to work as soon as possible, regardless of your injury status. I strongly recommend you contact a licensed Louisiana workers' compensation attorney in order to protect the remainder of your claim.

The nurse case manager does not have the right to be in the room with you and your doctor. However, they do have the right to communicate with your doctor following your visit.
