I need help with my students loan.

3 views 3 answers
I just finished school 4 years ago. I'm currently not working now. I've been putting my student loans in forbearance all these years. I see that my student loans are increasing because of the interests. I used to owe around $8,500 and now it's around the $10,000. Is there something I can do to eliminate those extra charges or lower the payment? Thank you

You can get an income based payment which will be based on your salary. However, the interest will keep growing.

The interest accrues during the forbearance period. If you qualify for and are granted a deferment on your student loan you will not have to make payments and the interest will stop accruing on the unpaid balance for the duration of the forbearance. There are certain other very extreme situations under which student loans may be cancelled. You need to contact your loan provider or go on their website to see if you could qualify for a deferment or cancellation and then apply to see if it will be granted.

Do you know what Einstein said the greatest force in the universe is?.....compound interest. Perhaps you can borrow from family to pay it so it doesn't kill you.
