I have SSA come to me on the 3rd of every month which I have no control over so every month I pay my rent on the 3rd exactly to avoid any late fees but this month they closed the main office where you would drop off the payment to on the 3rd which completely blocks me from giving them the payment, I contacted the management and they said I must pay on the 2nd. I can't do that since I have no control over when I receive my SSA check and there's no way to get my rent in earlier, management knows of my situation and when I originally signed the lease they told me I would be fine paying on the 3rd.
Traditionally, when an obligation falls on a legal holiday, the obligation is not due until the next business day. However, look at your lease and see if there is any specific language addressing this issue. It could say differently by contract. Practically speaking, if you don't pay on the 3rd because there is some written requirement that rent be paid.by or before that day, you might receive a three-day notice that you're in default under the lease and requiring you to pay or return the demised property back to the owner and . Pay within the three day notice period and you should be fine. Consult an attorney to address your specific situation!

You will need to make sure that you deal with this better in the future by having a rental agreement where the rent is DUE in a manner that you can pay timely in conjunction with your SS check. In this instance, if you pay after the 3rd you will get stuck with late fees, which you will need to pay, as its your obligation to pay on time, not thiers to accommodate you beyond the lease terms. However, if you pay immediately on Monday, you will not likely be confronted with eviction as this would require a 3 day notice and provide you an opportunity to pay the monies owed and cure the default. DO NOT delay in making full payment, including late fees, as soon as possible, other wise the late fees could add up and place you in the position where you simply cant pay the full amount owed.
