Can your landlord ask you to leave the house so she can pretend it's her primary residence?

It was a while ago, but my landlord asked me to leave the house for the day so she could pretend it was her primary residence for an appraisal of home equity loan to get a different roof replaced. Is that legal? Did she commit fraud?

Yes, it sounds like she did. Not a good thing to do.

Your landlord has the capability of asking anything of you. It is a different question as to whether you should do as she asks. If you cooperated with a request you knew was dishonest, you may have committed a fraud.
