Hello, my asylee status was approved in 2012, and one year later I applied for the GC. Now my case status wasn't update since then. When I check my case, it says "On September 12, 2013, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number SRCxxxxxxxxxx. Our Texas Service Center location is working on your case." It's been two years, is that normal?? I had been waiting for so long.. Anyone can help please? Thanks!!

That is out of the normal processing time frame. I would recommend either calling USCIS or make an appointment at your local infopass.

The case is now outside standard processing times. You can attempt to follow up on your own first, but you are likely to get the generic answer of "you will be scheduled for an interview when we are done reviewing your case." This delay is an indication of a likely problem with your case. It would be anything from your file being lost in the mix (this happens, unfortunately), to them investigating something about your case that makes them question your eligibility. If you want to get substantive answers and get the case moving, it may be time to file a writ of mandamus in federal court.

There are many reasons why an I-485 could be outside processing times for asylee adjustment cases. Typically, if there are no inadmissibility issues, you should have a decision within six months to nine months and your green card will come in the mail. However, increasingly we are seeing TRIG holds on cases and there is no direct notification of the inadmissibility problem to the applicant without an inquiry. TRIG refers to the Terrorism Related Inadmissibility Grounds and that could be a reason. An immigration lawyer will not only find out whether any inadmissibility issues have been triggered, but also see if there are any waivers available to you.
