I was charged with Reckless Driving in Sept. 2009. Can I travel to CANADA? Will this affect my trip?

I got into a DUI arrest last Feb. 2009. Charges were reduced to Reckless Driving and I was sentenced to 6 months Probation, fines, and community hours. I'm in the process of completing the terms of my sentence but have not completed it. I need to travel to CANADA for 4 days on business with-in the next 2 weeks and there is no way I would have completed all the requierments. Can I safely make it into CANADA? Will there be any set backs or hold-ups? Will I have problems making it back into the U.S.? Thank you.

Probably not because you do not have an DUI conviction. You could contact Steve Biss: http://www.lawyers.ca/

Your best option is to contact the Canadian consulate and ask. As these things change frequently you need to hear it from the authority themself. You need to mention that you are still under probationary supervision. As to your return to the U.S., the answer depends on whether you have any travel restrictions on your probation. I would consult with your probation officer as to whether you will be in violation status for traveling to Canada as they will likely be contacted by the US border authorities upon your return.
