Is it worth my time to try and get child support if my son's father resides in another state?

My son's father was court ordered to pay child support. He is currently behind by about 2 years. I would like to take him back to court in an effort of receiving child support, but I am wondering if it is even worth it since he is in a different state than I am.

Yes it is worth it. Your child always needs many things. Go to your local courthouse website for information about having the local Child Support office represent you.

Yes, it is worth it - unless you simply don't need his money. Your first step should be to contact the Office of the State's Attorney where you you are living - or in the county where the support order was entered. Talk to the Child Support Enforcement division. They may be able to help at no cost to you.

The above answer are absolutely correct. It is worthwhile, even if he is out of state and if he currently does not have much income. Get the process started. He has an obligation to support his child. Once the state is involved they are a great advocate for you.
