Charged with marijuana possession that was not mine, what are my chances of winning this case? (Looking for representation)
Anonymous2 views5 answers
On June 26th, I was a passenger in a car that was pulled over that had marijuana in it. The driver of the vehicle admitted that the marijuana and paraphernalia found was his. However, the police report states that I was holding a pipe and had marijuana residue on my clothing at the time of the arrest. The amount was small (0.25 oz). My initial hearing date was rescheduled, however I was prepared to defend myself. What are my chances of winning?
I am currently looking for a lawyer to represent me on the morning Friday the 24th in Harris County. Because of this incident I lost my job and would need a lawyer to work with me (father will be paying expenses to an extent). I have an exceptionally good school transcript and am currently the captain of my college's Speech and Debate team.

Lawyers do not just represent someone on one particular date. If you hire a lawyer, the lawyer represents you throughout the entire case.
A small amount of marijuana isn't always that serious and there are many things that can be done to resolve it. You need to start calling Harris County lawyers and getting prices. We are not allowed to quote prices and we are not allowed to say "call me," which, by the way, you shouldn't call ME because I'm 5 hours away and I'm allergic to Houston traffic. Good luck to you.
Lawyers are ethically unable to solicit your business. That said, there are many great criminal defense lawyers right here on this site. Check out their ratings, then meet with them in person and discuss the facts face to face. Many of us offer free consultations. Call a few lawyers, meet with them, then hire the one you best believe can keep your record clean. Hope I helped, good luck!
Go online view the profiles of some local lawyers, schedule some appointments to meet with the lawyer to discuss your case and then hire the one you feel most comfortable with
As Mr. Akers indicated, we cannot directly solicit for business. What you need to do is set up a consultation with an attorney, or a few attorneys to see who you feel comfortable with. You want an attorney who is familiar with Harris County. Many of us offer free consultations for these cases.
Unfortunately, we cannot give you an exact percentage of your chances. It will depend on a number of things such as the facts you present, the facts in the offense report, and other various things. A Drug charge is a serious thing no matter how you look at it. You certainly need a lawyer you can trust.
