Assuming there are no new charges filed and there is no probation violation, it sounds like the Commonwealth filed a motion to revoke or increase his bail. He should get in contact with his attorney. If he doesn't have an attorney, he should find representation immediately.

If your friend paid bail to get out, he was out on bail and not out on probation. Based on new evidence in his case the Commonwealth can file a motion to increase bail and thereby revoke his old bail.

Your friend needs to hire an attorney asap. There are a number of possibilities here of what could have occurred. The new arrest could have been for missing a court date, could have been on the prosecution's request for bond revocation, or could have been for violating a condition of his bond (bond is different than probation). Only a detailed examination of the case will provide an answer.

This happens from time to time. Schedule a free consultation. The lawyer can look at all dockets and tell you exactly what's going on.
