i have a felony Grand theft charge as a juvenile, but i am interested in law enforcement of some sort i am aware that juvenile records can be sealed and or expunged but that most government jobs have access to federal records and can see sealed or expunged charges. Can i still be in law enforcement?

This is a matter of employment law not juvenile or criminal law. No lawyer can tell, you whether or notnyou will be admitted into much less graduate from the police academy, much less whether a given department will hire you for an open position. You will have to apply and see for yourself. You can also call one of the agencies in the following URL and ask them directly, Regardless and again this is a matter of employment law not juvenile or criminal law. Still I hope that I have been helpful to you.

Mr. Haber is correct, lawyers can predict what any given law enforcement agency will do. As with most law enforcement or security jobs, you should fully disclose your history and prepare a detailed explanation of what happened and explain what you learned from it. Some agencies will decline employing your, some may be willing to give you a second chance after a youthful indiscretion. Perhaps. But you had better be prepared to answer all sorts of questions about this.

It seems as though you already have an understanding of how the process will work. Though criminal records may be sealed or expunged many agencies still will have access. When you get the application, you should meet with an employment attorney who can guide you properly phrasing what you must divulge. Good luck.
