checked my credit report. I am currently homeless and my source of income has been SSI for the past 5 years. These judgments were in NY and I now live in CA. I can't file bankruptcy as I need to get housing and in the midst of repairing my credit. How do I get help?

You can move to vacate the default judgment but if you cannot afford a lawyer you would have to be present in New York. Your SSI is likely exempt from seizure (it is under NY law).

If you want to obtain relief from these judgments, either you or your attorney must file a motion in the New York court where the judgments were entered. The grounds for relief would be under Rule 60(b) for insufficiency of service of process. Either you or your attorney must appear in the New York court for you to obtain this relief. You will not get relief from those judgments on this web site.
