I WENT TO PRISON FOR 8 YEARS WITH JUST MY WORD AGAINST HERS. WHAT CAN I DO NOW. MY FAMILY IS SEEKING A LAWYER. I WANT A LAWYER'S HELP TO PROVE MY INNOCENCE.

Unfortunately your best opportunity to prove your innocence was that your trial. That said you can use Google or the other search engine to locate attorneys near you, or you can try the find a lawyer tab at the top of this page or you can contact the Virginia State Bar Association to request a referral.

The time to fight and prove your innocence was during the trial. Unfortunately, you were found guilty and trying to undo that now is exponentially more difficult. You need to speak to a lawyer who specializes in post-conviction relief.

If someone believes he or she is completely innocent, then a possible option to pursue is called an "absolute pardon." If granted, expungement would be possible. But please be advised, it is very difficult to obtain an absolute pardon. You can learn more at the Virginia Governor's Website (link below).
