I co signed a lease for a relative and the lease was up July 31st. They have not left the apt yet and the owner of the apt. complex called me and said since I co signed the lease I am responsible to pay for eviction or a month's rent of $1200.00. Since the lease expired July 31st am I still legally responsible?

Probably, you will be held co-responsible because you co-signed the lease. As a general rule, this means you will be responsible for the entire bill, if the other party refuses to pay. However, you do have recourse to sue the relative, if you are responsible to pay on the lease or pay damages to the landlord. Your best bet would be to hire an attorney to help you with this, before you get into bigger trouble than you already are in.

Yes when you co-signed you are co-responsible for the debt or any unpaid part of it.
