Not having a lawyer is the worst thing you could do when trying to fight a legal battle, especially if you are trying to pursue a contempt action or a modification action. There are numerous attorneys that will work on payment plans, so don't give up on trying to find an attorney who will. If the other party is preventing your daughter from seeing her child, she needs to file a contempt action as soon as she can, and I would suggest considering a modification action to modify visitation to increase her visitation time. Judges are not fond of parents who alienate the other parent.
Keep looking until you find an attorney who would be willing to take payments. It is not worth it to try to save money in the short term and lose the legal battle.
many attorneys here on avvo take payment plans.
Good luck.
i agree with my colleagues. Call your local bar association and/or use the Find a Lawyer feature on here and keep contacting lawyers until you find one whose payment terms you can meet. 8 months is too long for your daughter to have to go without seeing her child. An attorney will know how best to file the motion, the quickest way to get it before a judge so that she is getting visitation while the case is pending, and whether it makes sense to ask for a modification of custody based on the father's contempt. Best of luck to you all.
