Address and POE
Anonymous3 views3 answers
Greetings! I would just like to raise a concern. I have already been
approved and mailed an immigrant visa. However, as I closely examined the
details on my Immigrant Data Summary, I noticed that my final US address
lacks the building and apartment number of where I will be staying. I also
input the same address on my DS-260 when I first filled it out so I admit
that this is my mistake. I will be leaving soon. Can I correct this at the
time of my POE with an Immigration/CBP officer so that my green card and SS
card will be mailed to the correct address? Will I be having trouble
because of this? Please help me. Thank you.
This is unclear. You can try to go to www.uscis.gov and access the tools pull down. There is a place that you can click to change your address. The form that you need to use is called an AR11.
If there are any further complications, then you may schedule an info pass appointment with the Chicago district office. If you still have trouble, that I strongly recommend an appointment with a competent and experienced immigration attorney. Good luck.
You can update your address on your ELIS account. That's the same account that you pay your immigrant fee after you receive your immigrant visa but before you enter the U.S. so your green card will be made. The consulate should have given you an informational sheet about that. Or you can search ELIS on the USCIS website to learn more.
