Will a judge take my wishes into consideration even though I'm 16 years old?

My grandmother who I've been living with for a few years is forfeiting me to my mother who I'm pretty sure is only trying to get me for monetary purposes and I feel they're both unfit, so I have to appear in court and make an appeal to see if I can transfer my guardianship to someone else. If the judge hears me out, can I stay in this city under a different guardian?

You face some very restricted issues, among them being a United States Supreme Court ruling about parents having constitutional rights to raise their children unless the parents (note the plural) are unfit. You may not be eligible for a guardianship. Courts will usually interested in what kids have to say but take into account that they are not adults. Good luck with your situation.

In California with the new Elkins Law, the Court MUST take the minor's preferences into consideration. Most states have similar laws. This does not mean that the Court will follow your preferences. The Court will still make an order based upon what the court thinks is in your best interest. I would find legal counsel to help plead your case.
