Can I legally break my lease-without paying the fees--if there is a ROACH INFESTATION?

I've lived in my apartment since July 17th. First night I noticed there were roaches. Within two weeks I noticed them in the day time and they seemed to come out of the vents. I have already bombed my apartment, but I still see them. TWO of my neighbors broke their lease because they claim they had a roach infestation. But they PAID $1200 to get out of their lease.

There are procedures you must follow first. Check your lease to see who is responsible for pest control. If it's them, you'll need to notify the apartment complex in writing and they have an opportunity to cure the problem. If they can't, then you can start looking at legally breaking your lease. You'll want to speak to a local tenant attorney first before walking away from your lease or risk being sued.
