I need help resolving an "attached tag not assigned" traffic offense from 08/27/2000 that went 'out of sight, out of mind'.

Both cars and the tag were mine. I put the citation away while moving, and forgot about it. I was supposed to set a court date within 10 days of the event, in Hillsborough County, Florida, city of Tampa. I have lived out-of-state to the event location for more than 10 years, and would like to get this resolved so I may have a driver's license. I would really like to be able to resolve this without having to travel to Florida if that's an option.
