First look to the lease to see if their is a provision that discusses sale of the property. Most likely you will need to pursue the money from the original owner. This could be done by a formal demand from an attorney or an action in civil court. You should consult an attorney.

It would depend on what the Lease indicates. The Lease usually will also indicate that a security deposit was in fact required. The landlord would be responsible to return interest as well on the security deposit if it was a residential lease. The landlord may have kept the security deposit if there was any damage or cleaning charges when you vacated the property. Seek legal counsel will better help answer your question in more detail. If the landlord did not comply with certain requirements with the security deposit, you may have a claim against the landlord as well.
