How to keep my child support payments the same or lower them

I have a better job with better pay since my last child support evaluation and now my child's mother has a job now also since then. I make payments and provide for my child financially along with child support. But recently she has threatened to raise child support because of a disagreement we had I wanted to know if I have a a good chance of keeping it the same or even lowering the payments and if so what would I need to accomplish this?

Ohio uses a formula that is derived from a worksheet. Best thing to do would be to consult with an attorney, bringing along income information, tax returns, pay stubs, medical coverage, child care expenses, and the original child support orders. The attorney could give you an evaluation regarding what the best and worst scenarios would be. However, here is a link to worksheets made available by the Cuyahoga County domestic relations court. http://domestic.cuyahogacounty.us/pdf_domestic/en-US/Support/ChildSupportWorksheets.pdf

Child support is based off of a computation worksheet. While you have a better job now with higher pay, the fact that your child's mother now has a job is also taken into consideration and will provide and offset as well. That being said, you may end up paying less, you may end up paying more. It will depend on how much your income has increased and how much she is earning at her job. It might do you well to contact an attorney regarding at least running the child support computation worksheet for you to find out.
