Where would I find this course I need to take? Who would I go to talk to to sign up?

In oregon the law says I need to take some kind of financial course that will cost 19-50 dollars and it will be an hour or 1/2 an hour for the course a day. That also needs to be finished 6 months before I claim bankruptcy. Financial aid is the website it wants me to go to but on there I cant find anything to show where to sign up for this course. So I am wondering where to search and what exactly the course I am supposed to take. A name or something.

While I don't usually endorse any particular financial management course, there are lists of such courses as approved by the US Trustee at: http://www.justice.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa/ccde/de_approved.htm I will say that a lot of my clients in CA take the course online at www.yourbankruptcypartner.com There are plenty of other online courses available. For clarification, there is a pre-petition and a post-petition class. You must have completed the pre-petition class within 180 days of filing your petition. The pre-petition certificate will be issued and should be attached to Exhibit D of your petition. The post-petition class needs to be completed before you can receive your discharge. I usually advise my clients to take care of it prior to the 341 meeting. You will attach this certificate to form B23 (the court will usually send you B23 just after you file). Failure to comply with the financial management requirement can result in a dismissal of your case. Good Luck.
