DUI random alcohol testing, can they test for drugs?

As part of my probation, I was ordered to submit to random alcohol testing. My last test came back positive for amphetamines(I am taking trazadone,!it's a false positive ..) my question is are they even allowed to test for drugs? I wasn't even tested for ethanol that time, either. Just drugs.

I've never heard of Trazadone giving a false positive for amphetamines. Better talk to your lawyer.

Depends on the specific terms of the test condition. There has been some indication that Trazodone cause false positive tests for amphetamine, but not methamphetamine. Any presumptive test should be followed up with a GC/MS test which virtually eliminates the chance of a false positive. It's time to call your lawyer. Posting questions to strangers on the Internet who are unfamiliar with the facts of your case is not a substitute.

As part of probation, drug and alcohol testing is common. Yes, they are allowed to test for drugs. However, I do believe that Trazodone can produce urine with sufficient m-CPP to result in false- positive Amphetamines II results. If you were prescribed Trazodone, then you can provide the medical records to your attorney who will know what to do with them.

Yes. Talk to your lawyer and find out what option you have in your case.
